First-Ever Canadian Ice Fishing Expo a Homerun!

​An overwhelming surge of people on Day 1 of the Expo. The show was slammed right from the get-go, what a terrific surprise. 

What began as a rough sketch more than a year ago exploded on the Barrie Molson Center the weekend of Dec 16 like an atom bomb. To say that the first-ever, Canadian Ice Fishing Expo was a success would be a huge understatement. For vendors, speakers and visitors alike, the expo simply exceeded expectations. 

​I, along with several other top-end anglers, gave seminars both days and the response was overwhelming. The seats were full and my session spilled over back into the St. Croix Rods booth long after leaving the main stage. It was great to see so many people that pumped up about ice fishing, and I was only to happy to spend as much time with them as possible. I talked about several of my guide-proven, soft plastic tricks for Lake Simcoe's "Big 3:" lake trout, whitefish and perch. I built my career on the back of St. Croix Rods, they're all my guests and I fish with. We sold a pile of rods, accessories and apparel and had a great time.
